The Noida Cycling Club (NCC) is one of Asia’s oldest and largest cycling clubs, inspiring people to lead healthier and fitter lives through cycling. It has over 8000 members who have kept the flag flying, taking cycling to every corner of Delhi-NCR. The club regularly conducts weekend rides across popular landmarks of the National Capital Region and brings together both first-time cyclists and seasoned riders. Over the years, it has grown into a vibrant community where cycling becomes not just a fitness activity, but a shared habit and identity. People from all walks of life have embraced cycling thanks to the NCC’s efforts to popularise the sport.
Noida Cycling Club was founded on April 10, 2011, by Aman Puri — a former athlete who has competed in numerous national-level cycling championships — with a simple yet powerful goal: to promote cycling as a way of life among people. In its early days, the group consisted of just four riders: Aman Puri, Prateek Gupta, Mohsin Ahmed, and Abhinav Gupta, who played a key role in building its foundation. It slowly and steadily gained popularity through its regular weekend rides, a welcoming approach to beginners, and journeys through iconic destinations across Delhi-NCR.
What set NCC apart was its consistency and openness. Regular rides and a strong sense of camaraderie developed through group cycling, shared goals, and bonding over food at popular eating joints have drawn more people in. As more riders joined, the club organically grew in both size and impact.
Over the years, NCC has completed 1500+ rides and built a strong presence in the cycling ecosystem of Delhi-NCR. Its steady growth reflects not just numbers, but the trust and commitment of its members. Today, the NCC stands as one of the most active cycling communities in India.
NCC founder Aman Puri envisions that cycling becomes a widely adopted lifestyle choice across Delhi-NCR, contributing to fitter individuals. He aims to create a cycling-friendly urban environment by popularising this activity among people.
NCC has played a sustained role in strengthening Delhi-NCR’s cycling culture. NCC riders are a common sight on the roads over weekends. Their visible presence on weekend routes has inspired many others to take up cycling as a hobby and fitness activity. The club creates a welcoming environment where new riders feel comfortable taking their first steps. Through group rides and peer support, beginners quickly gain confidence and become part of a consistent riding routine.
Discipline, consistency, and mentorship are at the core of NCC’s approach. Regularly scheduled rides encourage members to stay committed, helping them build both physical endurance and mental resilience over time. NCC admins — experienced riders — show the ropes to beginners and young members of the club, guiding them through routes and group-cycling practices, making the transition into regular cycling smoother and more enjoyable.
Beyond fitness, NCC brings a sense of exploration to cycling. Riders often traverse well-known landmarks across the region, turning familiar routes into shared experiences. Post-ride stops at popular local eateries have become a defining part of the culture, where conversations and connections continue beyond the ride itself. These unique aspects of the NCC riding experience have improved motivation among newcomers, encouraging them to take up cycling and have contributed to strengthening the cycling culture across Delhi-NCR.
The Noida Cycling Club is not just a riding group but a blooming community of enthusiastic members from diverse backgrounds and age groups. With members ranging from 8 to 79 years of age, it brings together individuals into an inclusive space shaped by participation, mutual encouragement, and a strong sense of belonging. A defining strength of NCC is its peer-led structure. Experienced riders guide newcomers, long-time members help sustain regular participation, and volunteers play an important role in coordinating rides and initiatives. This collective involvement ensures that the club continues to grow while remaining welcoming and accessible to new members.
Our core values are inclusivity, mentorship, communal development, responsibility, and sustainability. Inclusivity guides NCC’s effort to create a welcoming space where riders across age groups and experience levels feel comfortable participating in group cycling. Mentorship reflects the culture of experienced members supporting newer riders as they build confidence and become part of regular riding routines. Commitment to community fitness determines NCC’s continued effort to encourage more people across Delhi-NCR to take up cycling as a regular habit and part of a healthier lifestyle.
Responsibility is reflected in promoting safe riding practices and awareness on the road. Sustainability represents NCC’s long-term commitment to promoting cycling as an environmentally responsible way to engage with the city.
The NCC is committed to building a greener Delhi-NCR and reducing the city’s carbon footprint by encouraging cycling as a viable alternative to the less-sustainable means of transport. The club has conducted several rides on World Environment Day to build awareness about the role cycling can play for a greener environment. By encouraging the use of bicycles over motorised transport whenever possible, the club contributes to a cleaner, less congested, and more sustainable urban environment.
NCC’s impact extends beyond cycling into initiatives that support the wider society and environment. Over the years, the Club has participated in activities such as blanket-distribution drives in winters, tree plantation efforts, and initiatives related to education and animal welfare. These efforts reflect the club’s belief that cycling communities can also play a meaningful role in supporting the society they ride through.
